DescriptionThe Anglian Water Strategic Pipeline Alliance (SPA) project currently involves the planning, design and construction of circa 320km of new strategic, large diameter, clean water interconnector pipelines and associated infrastructure across Anglian Water’s region. The SPA Alliance is also taking on responsibility for the future interconnector pipelines, a further 260km of strategic interconnector pipelines and associated infrastructure.
The role of the Commercial Manager is to drive and lead projects commercially to ensure they are procured, delivered within budget and to the highest quality whilst exceeding our customers' expectations. You will lead and develop, where necessary, the efficient and effective management and issue of accurate, timely and compliant notices and correspondence and ensure the compliance of all contractual activities on the project
You will be required to formulate commercial strategies in connection with conflict avoidance, conflict management and dispute resolution and be able to demonstrate good communication, influencing and decision-making skills
Responsibilities
- Manage cost reporting for allocated projects, including Cost Forecasting and Anticipated Final Cost
- Monitor and report on all commercial aspects of projects, proposing mitigation actions for any issues
- Influence decision-making from a commercial perspective and review contractor / subcontractor delivery
- Manage the assessment and valuation of contractor applications and payment certifications
- Provide advice on change management and produce documentation for approval
- Produce payment applications/invoices and manage commercial risk and claims
- Provide management information and analysis for informed decision-making
- Ensure proper retention and archiving of commercial records and undertake final account settlements
- Leading and influencing the programmes strategic sourcing activities for large value, complex spend areas to ensure they align with the broader business objective and market strategies
- Ensure innovative delivery sourcing, procurement, implementation and contract management but with a commercial sensible approach with an aim to add value
- Collaborating with stakeholders on managing contracts and supplier relationships to maximise commercial and contractual benefits
Qualifications
- Significant post-graduate commercial experience in the construction industry with demonstrable track record of achievement
- Demonstrable commercial and contract management experience (pre and post contract essential)
- Practical approach, logical thought process and a methodical way of working
- A creative and innovative approach to problem-solving
- Extensive experience of setting up and/or operating office management systems including filing systems and document control and distribution
- Extensive experience of drafting effective contractual correspondence and the facilitation of collaborative solutions
- Experience of developing & implementing procurement and contract strategies
- Proven negotiating and team-working skills with the ability to motivate and lead a team
- Strong analytical skills
- Demonstrable legal, contractual and construction knowledge
- Experience in implementing and delivering strategic objectives and associated change programmes
- Confidence and ability to assert influence
Qualifications
- Holds an RICS / CICES accredited degree
- Full Membership of RICS or CICES
- May also be a member of other professional bodies or hold additional qualifications
